6. We believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that all who believe on Him are justified solely on the ground of the blood that He shed on Calvary’s Cross.

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. (Romans 5:8-9)

7. We believe that those who thus receive Christ by faith have their sins forgiven (Ephesians 1:7), their hearts cleansed (Acts 15:8-9), are born of the Spirit, become children of God (John 1:12-13), and are made new creatures in Christ Jesus (II Corinthians 5:17).

In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; (Ephesians 1:7)

And God, which knoweth their hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as He did unto us; and put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith. (Acts 15:8-9)

But as many as received him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:12-13)

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (II Corinthians 5:17)

8. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ was literally and bodily raised from the dead, that He ascended into Heaven, and is there now, as our intercessor.

Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. (Romans 8:34)

9. We believe that the Holy Spirit is a Person, and as such He is our abiding Comforter and Helper (John 14:16-17). We believe that He convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment (John 16:8).

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abideth with you forever; even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth in you, and shall be in you. (John 14:16-17)

And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, because they believe not on me; (John 16:8)

10. We believe that there will be a bodily resurrection of the saved and the unsaved; that the saved will be eternally blessed in Heaven, and that the unsaved will be in everlasting and conscious punishment in the lake of fire.

For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterwards they that are Christ’s at his coming. (I Corinthians 15:22-23)

Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of the damnation. (John 5:28-29)

And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:14-15)

11. We believe in the blessed hope: the personal, literal, visible, pre-millennial, pre-tribulational and imminent return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to receive His own unto Himself.

In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where i am, there ye may be also. (John 14:2-3)

And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; which also said, “Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. (Acts 1:9-11)

and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come. (I Thessalonians 1:10)

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning thwem that which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we beleive that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

12. We believe that a local church is a congregation of immersed believers, associated by a communion of faith, for fellowship in the Gospel; observing the ordinances of Christ; governed by His laws and exercising the gifts, rights and privileges invested in them by His Word; that its officers are elders and deacons, whose qualifications, claims and duties are clearly defined in the Scriptures. We believe that the local church has the absolute right of self-government, free from the interference of any hierarchy of individuals or organizations, and the one and only Head is Christ; that local churches of true Scriptural doctrine are to cooperate with one another in contending for the faith and for the furtherance of the Gospel; that each local Church is the sole judge of the measure and method of its cooperation. On all matters of membership, of government, of discipline, of benevolence, the will of the local church is final.

Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name. And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written, After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up: That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things. Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world. (Acts 15:14-18)

Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you. (I Corinthians 11:2)

And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all. (Ephesians 1:22-23)

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; (Ephesians 4:11

For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. (Ephesians 5:23-24)

And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

(Colossians 1:18)

13. We believe that the Bible records only two public ordinances, and these should be followed by the local church. They are water baptism and the Lord’s Supper or Communion. Baptism is the immersion of a believer in water to show his faith in, and identity with Christ in His death, burial, resurrection and the Spirit-filled life. It is a symbol and demonstration on the conversion experience. We believe that the Lord’s Supper is a memorial of the atoning death, burial, resurrection, and personal return of Christ, and that only born-again believers are to participate in it. We believe that the elements, bread and the juice of the grape, are symbols of Christ’s body and blood and have no merit in themselves.

14. We believe that we are under obligation to contend earnestly for the faith once and for all delivered unto the saints.

Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. (Jude 3)
